NM State Ranked No. 9 after Week One

WACO, Texas – The NM State equestrian team moved up to No. 9 in the latest national rankings as announced by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Selection Committee on Tuesday. The team, which was ranked No. 10 for the preseason, will begin competition on Saturday as they host SMU at 10 a.m. in the New Mexico State Equestrian Center.

NM State Set for Rio Grande Rivalry at New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Following a week off, the NM State football team is set to travel to Albuquerque, N.M. to take on Rio Grande rival New Mexico on Saturday at 6 p.m. The contest will air on ROOT Sports and will be broadcast on the flagship station AM 570 in Las Cruces.

1. New Mexico State has dominated this zombie version of the WAC for the past four years. In fact, there are no teams currently in the conference from the last time NMSU didn’t win the WAC. The Aggies lost a lot of senior talent, can anyone in the league catch up to them?

2. Thunder Dan has an exciting team at Grand Canyon, and they’re the most likely challenger to NMSU’s WAC dominance, but they’re still in a D1 transition year, and thus ineligible for the NCAA Tournament even if they were to catch up with the Aggies.

3. A lot of talented senior guards left the league, but UMKC could make up some ground with the best returning guard in the conference, Martez Harrison, who leads the Roos’ 3/4 court pressure defense, a big advantage with the 30 second shot clock, especially in…

Aggie Baseball Gets $1 Million Makeover

Thanks to the generous donation of $1.4 million from an NMSU alumnus, the facilities for Aggie baseball have undertaken a new look for the 2015-2016 season.

NMSU graduate Mike Johnson and his wife, Judy, had many reasons to donate to this program, among them was to honor Mike’s mother, Mineola, who loved watching Mike and his brother play baseball.

“My older brother and I grew up playing the game in Roswell,” Johnson says in an interview with the NMSU News Center. “The love for the game was instilled in us by my mother, who was a huge baseball fan.”

They hope the renovations to Presley Askew Baseball Field will serve as a memorial to Mineola and bring a great fortune to NMSU baseball.
