EDINBURG, Texas –The Western Athletic Conference announced that due to ice causing numerous flight disruptions in the Dallas area, Saturday’s scheduled men’s basketball game between the Texas-Pan American and New Mexico State has been postponed.
The Aggies flight from El Paso to Dallas arrived as scheduled on Friday, but the flight from DFW to McAllen was canceled after several hours of delays.
NM State was unable to obtain another flight and will attempt to return to Las Cruces Sunday.
“Obviously we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to complete our trip and get the game played,” said NM State Coach Marvin Menzies. “But with the weather conditions, the safety of our student-athletes is our most important concern.”
The Aggies (19-10, 11-1) will now face the Broncs (9-19, 3-9) on Wednesday night with tipoff set for 6 p.m. Mountain (7 p.m. Central) at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
NM State concludes the season on next Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Pan American Center against Chicago State. It’s Pack the Pan Am Night, as well as Senior Night and US Bank/NM State Athletics Hall of Fame Night. Limited tickets remain and are available at the Pan Am Center Ticket Office or by calling 575-646-1420.
