LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State senior Amber Tassel will represent the Aggies equestrian team in the 2015 Pin Oak Collegiate Invitational in Katy, Texas on Sunday.
The Pin Oak Collegiate Invitational is an eight collegiate rider event at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy. The event starts at 7 a.m. Central (6 a.m. Mountain).
Tassel, one of the field of eight riders, including six from National Collegiate Equestrian Association sponsoring institutions, will participate in an equitation over fences competition.
In addition to the senior from Santa Fe, N.M., the field includes Kylina Chalack of Fresno State, Kelsey Gore of LSU, Tiffany Lee of Delaware State, Sophie Newman of Rice, Marlena Parker of Texas A&M, Kaitlin Perry of TCU and Schaefer Raposa of SMU.
Tassel drew Chalack in the second quarterfinal matchup, with the winner advancing to a semifinal around against the winner of the quarterfinal between Lee and Perry that starts the day.
The championship round completes the day.
