LAS CRUCES, N.M. – For the second meet of the outdoor season, the New Mexico State track and field team travels to San Marcos, Texas to compete in the Texas State University Bobcat Invitational.
The women’s discus competed on Thursday afternoon to start off the invitational.
Akuadasuo Ezenyilimba finished 17th against the competition recording a final mark of 42.61m (139-9) as freshman Taylor Stutely followed behind with a mark of 37.94m (124-5) to finish 24th in the meet. Freshman, Alexandra Winebark rounded off the NM State discus squad finishing 31st recording 33.34m (109-4) on the day.
“Following the discus women, the rest of the team will start the meet tomorrow with hopefully a little better performance than UNM,” head coach Orin Richburg said. “We hope to improve across the board against some good competition as we prepare for the outdoor conference.”
NM State will see schools such as Auburn, Houston, Missouri, Norte Dame, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Rice, SMU, Tennessee, UT Arlington, UC Davis, Northern Illinois, Marquette and Arkansas State throughout the weekend.
On Friday, field events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. followed by track events starting at 5 p.m. On the final day of the invitational, field events will kick off at 9 a.m. followed by track events at 2 p.m.
