DENVER – The New Mexico State senior Pat Beyhan has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for March 23-29 as announced by the league office Monday, March 30.
Beyhan, a native of Albuquerque, N.M., finished tied for seventh at the UTSA/Lone Star Invitational, shooting a six-under 210. His best round came in the second as he fired a four-under 68. The Aggies finished eighth against a highly-competitive field. As a team, New Mexico State shot a one-under 863, including a six-under 285 in the first round.
“Pat [Beyhan] played solid golf all the way through the entire tournament,” said head coach Mike Dirks. “He hit the ball wonderfully and it looks like he is getting hot at the right time.”
Beyhan was the 2014 WAC Player of the Year and also earned 2014 first team all-WAC honors.
The men’s golf team returns to action at the Aggie Invitational hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5. Rounds one and two will be played on Saturday with the final round played on Sunday. Recaps and results will be available online at www.NMStateSports.com.
“We are going to play on a very demanding golf course so it will be pretty challenging and it will also involve a strong field of teams,” Dirks said. “This will give us a great opportunity to fine tune our game and will help boost confidence heading into WAC Tournament.”
