LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State javelin thrower, Kayli Farmer, has been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s track and field Athlete’s of the Week for April 13-19 after her performance at the UTEP Invitational on April 18.
Farmer, a freshman from Aztec, N.M. (Aztec HS), won the javelin with a toss of 42.36 meters (139-0). Farmer also placed second in the high jump clearing 1.57 meters (5-1 3/4).
“Kayli has been coming along very well this past season. She performed well in the high jump and especially in the javelin this past weekend for us,” head coach Orin Richburg said. “She is continuing to make good progression and is about where she left off last year. We look forward to see what she can do for us.”
Farmer is currently ranked second in the WAC in the javelin so far this season and is 105th on the NCAA Qualifying List, being the only NM State women’s track and field athlete to make the Top 150 list in any event.
