LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The 2015 Western Athletic Conference Champion New Mexico State Aggies will start NCAA Women’s Golf Tournament play next week at the regional in St. George, Utah.

The NCAA Women’s Golf Committee announced the selections Monday evening, seeding the Aggies 16th in the 18-team regional at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club May 7-9.

“This is a very deep region,” said NM State head coach Jackie Booth. “We have beaten two of the other 17 teams in the field and get to face No. 1 USC. We have our work cut out for us.”

The Aggies will be pitted against not only the top-ranked Southern California Women of Troy, but No. 4 Arkansas, No. 6 Stanford, No. 10 Vanderbilt, and No. 19 Virginia. Also in the field are UNLV, San Diego State, Miami (Fla.), Colorado, California, SMU, TCU, Denver, Wisconsin, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Arizona and Albany.

The Aggies have wins over Wisconsin and NAU.

“We are playing our best golf of the season right now,” Booth said. “And I believe in Cinderella stories.”

The St. George regional is one of four regionals in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Tournament. Other regionals are at Briggs Ranch in San Antonio, Texas, the Warren Course at South Bend, Ind., and the Lonnie Pool Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.

The top six teams and top three individuals not part of those teams from each of the four regionals will advance to play in the NCAA Championship at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla., May 22-27.
