LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State University Athletic Department and University Communications and Marketing Services announced the appointment of Cari Gold as Assistant Athletic Media Relations Director on Wednesday.
Gold comes to NM State after spending a year with fellow-Sun Belt member the University of Louisiana at Monroe as the Media Relations Assistant. At ULM, she worked with women’s basketball and tennis and was the secondary contact for football.
“Cari is a rising star in the athletic media relations profession,” said NM State Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Bill Powers. “She brings experience from the SEC as well as the Sun Belt Conference and a fresh perspective. We’re excited to welcome her to New Mexico State.”
Prior to ULM, Gold spent a year and a half as a sports information assistant at Louisiana State University where she assisted with football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball. In addition, Gold was the primary contact for the LSU women’s tennis team.
Gold has worked with the Conference USA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament, the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds, the American Athletic Conference Tournament, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight, the NCAA Baseball Regionals and Super Regionals and the College Basketball Invitational.
Gold earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in sport management from Christian Brothers University and a master’s in kinesiology with a concentration in sport management from LSU.
