NM State Ranked No. 9 after Week One

WACO, Texas – The NM State equestrian team moved up to No. 9 in the latest national rankings as announced by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Selection Committee on Tuesday. The team, which was ranked No. 10 for the preseason, will begin competition on Saturday as they host SMU at 10 a.m. in the New Mexico State Equestrian Center.

The Aggies, who moved up in the rankings after SMU lost two competitions over the weekend, return 13 riders for the 2015-16 season. Last season, NM State competed in their 11th-straight national championship competition. The team also finished third in the United Equestrian Conference Championship. As a team, NM State earned 30 Most Outstanding Player awards over the course of the season.

The 2015 season was highlighted by Brynn Larson earning the Reining United Equestrian Conference Rider of the Year award. Additionally, Larson is a two-time All-American in reining after earning the honor in both 2014 and 2015.

The 2016 NCEA Championship will take place April 14-16 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.
